There are many differences between homes in northern and southern climates and one of them is how folks in the South like to cook.
I did a search on Google Trends for the term “Outdoor Kitchens” and saw that interest spiked to a five year high during the summer of 2020.
Google Trends also showed that the interest was greatest in the states of Louisiana, Florida, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama.
I am having a hard time getting images to upload here so I am also providing a link to the data.
The folks over at This Old House estimate that an outdoor kitchen can be built for between $3,000 and $15,000 depending upon how upgraded you make it. You can actually build a great outdoor kitchen on a budget as you will not necessarily need appliances like a refrigerator or dishwasher.
I have heard it said that a great kitchen could really help a house sell. I guess that for anybody working in the South it might be worthwhile to look into adding or upgrading an outdoor kitchen. A lot of folks are looking forward to hosting a neighborhood crawfish boil after this pandemic breaks and a great outdoor kitchen would be perfect for them.
