Cities opening up.... Slowly

Saturday night is a big night for eating out, apparently!    My past clients called and asked if we could go and try out this new Mexican restaurant in Parker, which is in Douglas County, and as long as the restaurant has passed the 5-Star rules by the State, they can now open up 25% of the seating indoors.    This is the only county in the Denver metro area that can now even have 25% indoor dining!

We had arranged to be there at 4 pm, and I was early (3:50) and there was a FULL parking lot.    Not only full, but saw many sitting in their cars.  Not a good sign....  Went inside to put my name down for a table, and there was AT LEAST one hour wait.    BTW, they do have patio seating too, which was heated (and full).

Many of the restaurants are putting signs on the door stating you can only be seated for one hour, and give others a chance to eat also.   I think that is only fair to the restaurants.

Hopefully this soon will pass.   I know Colorado just went from RED level to Orange, so not sure what that means for restaurants, if they can now have more patrons, but sure hope so!

I am yearning to sit at a restaurant--either inside or out--and enjoy dinner and chatting with friends. We're a long way from seeing that here.

Lottie Kendall our restaurants have been closed for about a month, unless they had patio seating.  BUT, our weather is winter now, so that has been an issue.

Good morning Joan Cox - this is good news for the restaurants.  They need to get back to business.

Grant, I so agree, we don't want to lose even more than we already have!

It is much safer to avoid restaurants at this time.

Indoor dining is not allowed in our area.

Eating out is not worth the risk to your health and your life during the current pandemic.

Hi Joan- our restaurants have been open for a while...limited capacity and distancing required. One of our favorite Mexican restaurants has placed tall plexiglass between the booths as well. When Larry and i do go out we go early when it isn't as crowded and/or eat outside if we can. That said, we don't dine out that often.

Good morning, Joan... I haven't eaten at a restaurant since the third week of February 2020... when we were out with friends to celebrate my husband's and his best friends birthdays (they were born in the same year on day apart and we always celebrate them together). I'm so used to not eating out... it doesn't even bother me any more.

Fortunately, here in Charlotte our restaurants are not as restricted as yours... but we do still have a curfew in place of 10pm... so restaurants are closing up at 9:30 and stop serving alcohol at 9 pm. But as in your area, people are out in droves eating dinner now at 4:30pm.

Paul, listening to the news now to see if we have moved to a different level here.

Kathy, I think many are avoiding dining out.

Nina Hollander I so get tired of cooking for one, and need to get out with friends and have someone else cook (and clean up).

Joan Cox I get that, Joan... but just decided it wasn't worth risking given how quickly this virus spreads. My out of the home activities are some basic shopping, my physical therapy, and my clients.

It has been nice for that last couple of months not to HAVE to wear a mask.  Recently the Delta variant has produced more positive cases, so we may have to go back to wearing them indoors.

Nice to go out to restaurants, and not to have to wait hours for a table when they were only operating at 50% capacity.
