GRAMMY AWARD-WINNER BARBARA BAILEY HUTCHISON

IN FREE CONCERT AT HERITAGE PARK JUNE 26

Grammy Award-winning singer Barbara Bailey Hutchison will perform in her folksy and often funny style on Thursday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the City of Farmington Hills "Stars in the Park" concert series.  The concerts, sponsored by Daimler Financial Services, take place in the brand new amphitheatre in beautiful Heritage Park, located at 24915 Farmington Road, just south of Eleven Mile.

The sweet tones of Barbara Bailey Hutchison's voice are recognizable from her many radio and TV commercials.  Her talent goes far beyond commercials, though, as her Grammy Award can testify.  Barbara Bailey Hutchison has appeared at the White House twice; performed in nearly all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii; toured Japan, Korea, and the Philippines; and recently returned from Thailand, where she participated in a benefit concert for children orphaned by AIDS.

Hutchison's Grammy Award came to her through a new avenue, when she agreed to sing an album of original lullabies for friend and producer J. Aaron Brown.  After she received the Grammy for Best Musical Recording for Children, the calls started coming in for family concerts.  Her lyric-driven, melodic, often humorous, alternative folk music speaks to issues of tolerance and human rights, as well as personal relationships and funny circumstances.  She has produced 16 CDs and one reviewer described her music as "full of grace, humor, hopefulness, and most of all, deep humanity."

Hutchison grew up in Detroit and launched her career while attending Michigan State University, where she gained a loyal following performing in local coffeehouses.  She began touring colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and was voted Best Solo Performer, Best Acoustic Performer, and Best Female Performer in a national magazine poll.

Concerts last approximately 90 minutes.  The rainout site for this concert is the Costick Center, 28600 W. Eleven Mile, Farmington Hills. Concerts continue throughout the summer, with a wide variety of music.  For more information, call 248-473-1870.
