AR Tuesday Meet-Up -
ADU Methods And Excitement
With John DL Arendsen
Starting off the New Year with a fascinating presentation from John DL Arendsen, the first Meet-Up of 2021 was packed with TONS of information.
John speaks in a calm voice and therefore his style made it possible to absorb all the new information he presented about his career with Crest Backyard Homes.
John is a Factory Built Home Contractor. He explained that everything a new home process requires when being built on site is also the step-by-step process for a factory-built home. So fascinating to think of that process.
Meet-Ups generally start on time at 2:00 pm ET BUT starting around 1:30 or so, people sign in to greet each other. During "visiting" time today, John explained how Jeff Dowler, CRS introduced him to our community. It is wonderful to see people in our own AR community and then listen to their participation with the speaker as well.
"What is an ADU?" someone asked and Carol Williams answered in the Chat. Carol also asked if there were a nation wide association for this type of home. John smiled and said he was so busy in his own area that he on;y worked there. Nothing national as far as he knew.
Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! asked John a great question about waste. She wondered about incinerating toilets instead of going to a traditional septic system. Her other very pertinent question was about what steps are taken to ensure that an ADU does not cause flooding problems for the main structure.
Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker asked about time-frame for a project. She cited issues getting building permits as a possible delay point.
The most beneficial part each week is how AR members with different specialties tie theior careers into the knowledge being shared. For example, Jan Green asked about energy saving features.
In fact, the 42+ people in attendance were so taken with John's presentation that he was invited to present again in a Q&A format!
