Doing Real Estate with your little kids???????

By
Real Estate Agent with ReMax Unlimited Northwest

How many times do we get stuck dragging our kids on showings or open houses.

Some kids know how to behave or are old enough to know better.

Not most little ones.  I have taken my to angels/monsters and some clients love them and others get tortured.

My kids have to see the whole house and are not afraid to ask the questions we want to. Especially direct to the owners if they are home. I do get a kick out of it. " why is your home so dirty?" what is that big stain in the carpet" It smells in here " can i pet your dog, can i use your bathroom. My little guy made us all wait 15 minutes one time, pee only.  How about when the sellers dont have toilet paper and I had to ask after 15 minutes? Thats a tough one. I actually sweat and my clients were waiting in front of home. Good thing it was my son and not me...

Of course they love to run run run...

And if there is other cool toys, then you really have to hold on to them.

I never lost a client over it, I explain before hand, If you really want me today or at this time, there will be additional lookers. Its all in good fun. Just dont do it often if you dont have to.

Add some if you have some.

I think it is great that you take your kids along.  You are leading them by example, and showing your clients that you are a multi-tasker that has family values.  HORAH!

My kids are grown now, but they were quite small when I started in the business and I took them on flyer delivery runs, and viewing vacant houses.  They were able to price a house within a few thousand.  I will never forget my son walking into a house at the age of 6 and saying "750K" Then I showed him the flyer he was dead on . Funny how neither one grew up to be a realtor though!

Most of my clients were always cool about my kids in the car when I delivered flyers or installed a lockbox.  I think it made me more human to them.

Glad to see you let them participate, but dont expect them to take over the business anyday.

I have done it maybe 10 times in 16 years-- my oldest is 7.   But, I will take them if i need to.   They ( clients ) must deal with it.   Or they dont get me.   Hell, if i realllllly want the deal, ill kiss a little butt.

I would not take kids. I don't see how that would be professional especially if they are distracting.
