Fremont county Colorado is known for many things: The Royal Gorge and Bridge, The Arkansas River, The Super Max prison, dinosaurs, panoramic views, and Skyline Drive.
Skyline Drive is a narrow road that runs on top of the Dakota hog back.
Parts of this road are more than 800 feet above the base of the hill. But the views are spectacular. My first trip was with my Realtor after I made a comment about seeing a car on top of that mountain. After I recovered from my first experience I started taking guests on Skyline. Although there are few places to park you can get wonderful views of Canon City, the mountain range and oh yes that is highway #50 below.
