Many of you know my love of hiking and simply being outside to enjoy nature. It's been my 'meditation' every day. for years. I started hiking when I moved to Vail CO after college and just never stopped. Who knew I'd turn into a hiker when I really was a skier, tennis and racquetball player and golfer! Hiking got into my blood. And then I had to stop hiking.
I have been unable to hike for almost 1 1/2 to 2 years due to foot issues. After a series of injuries and surgery it was almost impossible to walk for a while. I managed with the help of medication which I honestly hate taking but I must. I'm one of 'those' people that prefers all-natural ways of healing and handling issues.
I have tried on at least 3 dozen+ pairs of hiking/walking shoes and nothing worked for my issues. In fact, most made it worse. The pain was still too intense to even think of heading out to the preserve. shucks! But all the while I've kept my mind and spirit in a very happy place and didn't go - oh woe is me or poor me. No chance of that!! I have so much to be grateful for day in and day out. I'm having a blast. But those who know me well.... know that already. So that's not the new news....
I didn't give up. A few weeks ago, and discovered another hiking boot/shoe that just might work. I wear a sandal from this same company which allows me to walk fairly well. It's got just the right arch and why it works I don't know and don't care. It works. In fact, I bought 2 more pairs as the first pair is looking pretty shabby!
Today I received my new possibility boots! And I think they're going to work!! I can tell the minute I start walking around in shoes if it's a go or not. 30 minutes later, they’re still feeling good. Tomorrow I'm going to attempt a small short hike on a flat path in the preserve with Gary. Yea! And I am hoping it's at least a start to longer and longer walks. That means I could play golf again Carol Williams ! So, come on down to Phoenix! I need a gold pro to get me back into the swing!
And if for some reason it doesn't work out, I will still be my normal happy banana! And I'll keep on looking and trying on possibility boots!
