For the 25 years that we have been in this home we have done our best to reduce the environmental impact of the home. The next step we take will further reduce that impact as it will be called downsizing

For years we had an egg timer for my daughters showers, 8 min showers, 10 minutes if your washing your hair also... It worked for a long time, before we did that their showers were 16-32 minutes.

Wayne Martin good morning, Wayne... my shower lasts as long as it needs to in order wash myself and my hair. But separate from shorter showers, for homeowners there are lots of little things we can do to cut energy costs that add up over time.
Ed Silva good morning again, Ed... regardless of the size of a house, there are things we can, as homeowners, do to keep energy costs under control. We just need to stay aware.
Greg Brown, Sales Rep Toronto, Durham region hi Greg... that's a great way to do it... I can't imagine being in a shower for 16-30+ minutes. Who has the time? (Well, maybe teenagers.)
Nina, great advice, and those visiting my house always raze me about unplugging the kitchen appliances.

Joan Cox hi Joan... can't say I unplug my appliances... but I have replaced numerous light bulbs with LED lights, keep our mechanicals well maintained, etc.

An easy one is to use energy-efficiet light bulbs. We had all our hi-hat lighting changed to LED lighting!

Ron and Alexandra Seigel hi Alexandra... when you really think about it, it doesn't take all that much to make a few changes that add up.
Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR hi Dorie... this is one of those days that seems to fly under the radar... and no one seems to know how it started in the first place. But it's a good idea, I think, to make people aware.
This is timely information to share.
Take care, be safe and have an outstanding week.

Hi Nina Hollander - Great points! I was very surprised at the difference energy-efficient bulbs made. The light was brighter and not hot.

Hi Nina Hollander - here are some things I recently did. I used all led Christmas Lights and I loved them. I also replace my boiler with an energy effecient one.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® good morning, Sheri... I was surprised, as well, when I replaced many of our light bulbs with LED bulbs.
Grant Schneider good morning, Grant... this year I really saved on energy--I had not Christmas trees or lights up at all! :) Just beyond my physical capabilities after my knee surgery.
George Souto good morning, George... at the end of the day, there are lots of little things we can do day in and day out that don't take a lot of effort or cost, but pay off over time in terms of energy savings.
James Dray good morning, James... our units are services twice each year... so I don't replace until they die.
I do quite a bit around my own home to cut my energy costs and I am pretty sure that my carbon footprint as they say would be fairly small.

Brian England hi Brian... I suspect that those of us who try to consciously cut energy costs are still a minority compared with those who are oblivious. I hope I'm wrong in that assessment.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS hi Paul... I suspect this is one of those "days" that flies somewhat under the radar.
How about staying in bed with the covers on and not leaving the bed... staying warm while the outside is cold:)) seriously I think the people that come up with this are the same ones that say do as I say not as I do... but call me an outsider:)Endre
