How to get free marketing exposure from money you already spend

How would you like to get more bang for your bucks?  Here is a quick and easy way to do just that with money you are already spending and helping out local organizations and charities at the same time.

I love trying to find a bargain and enjoy online auctions.  They are great fund raisers for local organizations, schools, charities, etc.  They can also give you tons of potentially free marketing exposure.

Say for example, there is an online charity auction coming up for an organization you would like to support.  Here are the quick and easy steps.

  1. Log in and set up your account, but make sure to have it display your company name, not your personal name.
  2. Think about buying any of the items you can use personally, professionally, or as closing gifts.
  3. Bid on opening day on everything you can potentially use using the feature to automatically increase your bid to what you are willing to pay.
  4. Your company name is displayed for each item.  This shows everyone else on the auction that you are engaged with this charity and helps get your name out there.
  5. When someone bids higher than you, their software should automatically update with your next bid and keep your name popping up until someone outbids you or you win.
  6. If you end up being the high bidder on something you really don't need but it is still a nice item, you can donate it to the next charity and double your exposure!

Happy Bidding!

This is an interesting idea Jim!  I have purchased things at live auctions for various community and real estate events because I thought they'd make make great client gifts.  Never thought of doing it online. Thanks!

Endre Barath, Jr. Thank you.  Someone could write a great book on the psychology of spending.  Look at the difference in your own personal spending habits if it is personal verses business.  Think of your consumption habits if you are paying verses someone else.  For example, at Christmas parties, my second broker would have an open bar for the first hour and everyone drank top shelf beverages.  When it was time for them pay, most dropped back to Bud or Coors.
