Versatile space and imagination go well together

By
Real Estate Agent with Compass CA DRE# 01215160

With a little imagination, one can suggest additional uses for space in a home.

For instance, take this small room, presently configured as a closet. Since there are two other closets in the room, why not help people see another use?

Office space in a home

Do you have a challenging space, one that might be put to another, better, use? Brainstorm with friends, with other agents, and make the suggestions that might help seller and buyer alike.

Hi Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker - whether one needs a home office or a remote learning spot, this could work.

Kathy Streib - I bet the yoga room/gym had appeal for buyers.

Myrl Jeffcoat  - the problem with extra closets is one's tendency to collect too much "stuff." Thanks for the Feature in the Old Fart's Club.

Brian England - this addition to the house where this is located is about 40 years old, and the rest of the house older. People's wants were different then, and builders accomodated them.

Good morning Paula McDonald, Ph.D., John Pusa  and Grant Schneider - it's fun to come up with alternative ideas for space

Hi Kat Palmiotti - a home office or remote learning spot would be superb now.

Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI, Joe Jackson  and Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS --the room looks different as an office, right?

Even though it might be tight, it has a lot more value as the office area and in all likelihood a quieter space than where the office may have been

I love that you were able to see what this could be, Lottie! So many sellers (and their agents) don't have that vision and it really does help to share options with buyers - and sell homes a lot quicker!

Hi Lottie:

What a creative way to use this space...especially a good idea for those working at home these days who need private office space. Love it!

Jeff Dowler, CRS There’s something about just working a little harder to make it a little perkier and quirkier that just does the trick, ya know?

Hello Lottie,  Such a great illustration ... the only thing I would do differently with the office space is turning the desk toward the window.

Congratulations on the Featured Post!

Hi Ed Silva - this particular little house has no separate office, but it certainly didn't need so many closets.

Hello Debe Maxwell, CRS - this space could also be a great remote learning space.

Jeff Dowler, CRS - one of the great reasons people choose to leave  condo is lack of space for various activities. Many houses offer creative solutions to that.

Laura Cerrano - I'm sure you are an expert at thinking of creative uses for under-utilized spaces in a house.

Erik Hiss - thanks for your nice comments. It's fun to think of alternatives.

Hi Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist - I'd probably turn the desk around, too. That lovely window provides a nice view -- but then, perhaps that would detract from staying on task!

Amazing how a space looks differently to others. Moving the desk against the wall  to the left of the window if right handed or opposite wall if left handed and installing wall shelves would utilize the space with efficacy and openness. The chair may have to be replaced with a task chair and perhaps a contrasting wall color to highlight the window. A very imaginative post.

Good morning, Roy Kelley -- remote learning and remote working cry out for thinking of unusual uses for space

Jan Green - virtual staging is a good way to help people see alternative uses of space--this is virtually staged by BoxBrownie.

Hi Mary Hutchison, SRES, ABR - if we look around our existing homes, often we can find better uses of space.

3 closets in one room - the previous occupants must have had LOTS of clothes. I wonder if that room was originally intended a a nursery?

Meanwhile... I agree. Imagination is a beautiful tool.
