The Yard Matters - Part 4

Hello you old goat! Yes, not a joke. This is how to clean up the rental house yard. A thriving business exists for renting goats to clear out overgrown yards.

The "grounds crew" are dropped off at the site. The land to be cleared is inside a temporary chain link fence - an electric chain link fence. That serves to keep the goats in and the rowdy-types out.

What do they eat? How about this list of unpleasant or unwanted plants?

Poison Ivy     Poison Sumac    Poison Oak    Vines   Briers   Blackberry

English Ivy    Honey Suckle   Privet Hedge   Kudzu - of course!

Goats hard at work clearing out invasive plants.

Once the "grounds crew" have finished, the extra touches may be added. This house lacked a path fron the back door to the backyard. Now one could be added! The steps are pressed concrete, lined on both sides with liriope scavanged (pre-goat) from elsewhere in the yard.

Hired the Perez family to build steps. They work well together. Each task is done with a combination of three factors: good senses of humor, high quality result and expedient use of time!   Mid-job ...

Every room on the inside has been cleaned - professionally. Now the outside looks amazing! Huge fenced back yard is now useable for all manner of fun and games for the whole family.

Check out the trimmed bushes and the welcoming pansies at the front - all planted and ready to greet the new Tenants.

The yard also really really really matters outside of Georgia too and you really resonated with me with this one

I had heard goats could be used to clean up poison ivy - I find that so interesting.

Best wishes with the rental! The yard does matter.

Lynn I have never heard of this before, but I love the idea.  Maybe we could incorporate sheep for grass mowing as well.  ☺️

We have done this in the past - one word(s) of caution: they will eat EVERYTHING!
