Matthew 9:10-11
While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why dos your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”
Chances are anytime you sit with friends or family to eat you would be sitting with a “sinner” in the eyes of the Pharisees. Today the Pharisees we have in our life would be the people going around judging others for what they do. Pointing out their flaws, shortcomings and sins.
Jesus sat and ate with the “sinners” of his time because those were the people that would receive his message, grace and spirit. Thus, you or the people around you being a sinner is not a cause for future hardships in the spiritual life. Each day is a chance to awaken to the fact that we are forgiven and God calls us higher to come out of our old nature to be a blessing for our friends, family and others we come in contact with.
We are not to be going around judging others for where they are falling short. Instead lifting them up out of the areas they are stuck in. They likely don’t want to be stuck, but don’t know a way up and out of their challenges! Victory is for you and for them. They can be the top and never the bottom too!
LORD I WILL LOOK AT WHO I HANG OUT WITH DIFFERENTLY NOW! I WILL ALSO LOOK AT WHAT I PERCEIVE OTHERS DOING DIFFERENTLY NOW. HELP ME WITH GREAT PATIENCE AND INSTRUCTION BE A GUIDING LIGHT FOR THOSE I AM BLESSED TO BE AROUND!
