Great "cheat" for watching pre-recorded videos on your computer!

I have watched countless hours of pre-recorded content since the pandemic and found an amazing plug-in that takes some of the edge off these Zoom sessions, YouTube videos, etc.

How many times have you signed up for an online webinar only to find out that it was previously recorded and not interactive at all?  That is one of my major pet peeves since they are typically scheduled during prime work hours when I should be talking to potential buyers / sellers, working on my marketing efforts, coordinating closings, etc.

Did you know that the average adult reads at about 250 - 300 words per minute, yet speaks at only about 150 words per minute?  What if you could speed that up 1.5 or 2x the speed.  Wouldn't that hold your attention better? What if there are commercials embedded in the video?  Many are programmed so you can't just skip them entirely, but what if I showed you how to fast forward through them?  Well if you use Apple products, quit reading now since this is for Chrome.

There are lots of video speed controller apps and plug-ins on the market, but this one works well for me.  My sweet spot is typically 1.7x speed.

Here is a link to Github's website with instructions on how to install their Chrome Extension:

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Bernie uses this technology. It makes sense to me. Although, unless it's a fabulous podcast or video, I rarely watch anything over a couple of minutes.

It even works on streaming TV shows, for example, listening to iHeart radio on CW you are forced to listen to way too many commercials.  You can't skip them, so why not play through them at 10x or 20x speed?

You are welcome, other than my screen capture software, it is probably one of my favorites.

You can even use it to rewatch the Tuesday Zoom sessions that are recorded.  The good thing is there are so many tools out there, you just have to use the ones that are good for you.

Good to know, Jim.  I usually speed up audible books when I play them.

I just applied for a library card again for the first time in years since I can check out audio book and digital media for free.

I didn’t know about this at all, well it’s definitely a cool little trick there. :)

Kathleen, I agree that sometimes you want to speed things up but can’t really force fit things that don’t fit and you have to wait it out until that moment.
