Commercial season for Dungeness crab has opened near San Francisco

Commercial season for Dungeness crab, a west coast specialty, normally opens by mid-November. This year the season opening in our area was delayed until January 11. 2021, with the first pulls a few days later, and a few days later still for crabs to reach our local markets.

I'll be showing property and working most of today, but if I'm lucky I'll come home to a crab dinner prepared by my favorite chef -- hubby Gene! Can't wait to taste those delectable morsels!

Oh yummy, sounds like it's going to be a perfect day. We can't wait for crab, it's been tough this year not to have the usual supplies. I know the Oregon coast is dotted with crab boats this weekend.

Hello, Nina Hollander - what is a seafood special trea in your area? Boston and Maine have lobster, we on the west coast love our Dungeness crab; what about North Carolina?

Lottie Kendall I have no idea, Lottie, as I don't eat seafood except for crab, lobster, and shrimp. Charlotte is inland... I suppose maybe trout could be a special treat. The Carolinas are the land of bar-b-que! (Unless you're along the coast line, which Charlotte definitely is not.)

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker  and Brian England - I have to wait until this evening -- crabs were all sold out yesterday but my Chef Gene got a big one at our local market for tonight.

Crab  is being prepared in our kitchen right now - all sold out in the markets yesterday, but today works, Carol Williams and Kathy Streib
