Chair used at Rendezvous Searcy Ar restaurant Old

This is a very historic chair!  You can find it in many Searcy High School yearbooks.

We are fortunate, my daughter and I, to have been chosen to market the house and the contents of the home that has been occupied by members of the Roberson family.  What makes the Roberson family special?  THE RENDEZVOUS!

The Rendezvous was one of the best and most popular restaurants in Searcy AR for many years.  It was started by the Roberson family and was often the chosen location for happy functions.  Click here for an early view of it.

The family says that this wrought iron chair was often used for events.  It would be picked up from their house and carried for use to help with formal pictures at various places, sometimes at the Rendezvous.  In one picture below it is definitely this chair but the other one will have to be verified by Searcy Sleuths.  The first picture is from 1964 yearbook and second picture is from the 1975 yearbook.

The chair has definitely aged and will be sold at the Estate Sale January 22, 23, 24.  I hope it can be restored and used again.  It has two matching small chairs.  Tell us who the folks are in the pictures, Searcy Sleuths!!

The home is for sale too!!  A super bargain at $125,000!

Good morning Barbara. Will you be a bidder and a buyer for the chair? Enjoy your day!

Oh, that chair is definitely refinishable! I would pick a color other than white though (personal preference!)

Thank you for your post.

A piece of the town's history should have a lot of bidders for that chair.  And then hopefully it will have a new history

Searcy is such a great town.  Thank you for sharing this story.  I need to ask my wife, Mary Margaret, if she ever had the pleasure of eating at the Rendezvous.  Good luck selling their home.

Raymond, can you tell me more about you?  Did you live in Searcy?  Were you related to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Henson, missionaries in Africa?

Hi Barbara S. Duncan,

My wife, Mary Margaret, grew up right across from Harding with her mom, Betty Alston.  We were married at Harding in 1990.  We live in CA, but visit Searcy every couple of years.  MM's sister, Susan Barnes, still lives there with her husband, Ricky.

We are not related to LLoyd Henson, as far as I know. 🙂

Here's a picture of the 3 chairs from from a picture I took through the window of the RENDEZVOUS at the RENDEZVOUS in 1998.

Sorry for the quality. This is the original picture.

Raymond, thanks for that update.  It was a long time ago when I sold the Hensons property.  They may be distant relatives!
