Shibumi is Japanese word: A term from the Edo period in Japan referring to places, persons, or things of effortless perfection.
Anything that is Shibumi is noble and fulfilling in a manner that is not shaped exclusively by analytical thought. Simply put, a state of great refinement underlying commonplace appearances.
We were discussing the concept at breakfast this Saturday, while picnicking at Sunny Fields Park in Solvang. Shibumi is a personal assessment.
Pictured above is small grove of birch trees in a section with picnic tables. The white of their trunks lit up a semi-cloudy day.
With the week long warm spring/ summer like weather, we have recently experienced, our roses have begun to form their first leaves. Another shibumi moment is here. And we loved the shadows they cast on the wall.
Happy Sunday, and we wish everyone a great week ahead!
