To Move or Not To Move 🤦‍♀️ What's Your Destiny?

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

"I'm not sure that any of us are ever ready for anything. We can

be ripe, or over-ready, but what is that moment when we're actually ready?"

                                             ---Andrea Riseborough

Between 1981 and 2001, Jack Welch, Chairman and CEO of General Electric inspired and motivated many people throughout the world. As Jack would say, "Control your destiny or someone else will."

Ready or not, moving can be just as exciting as it is stressful. For nearly a year lives have been upside down due to the pandemic. Leaving the past behind may be exactly what you need at this time in your life or not. It all depends.

Things to Think About

Are there more advantages or disadvantages to moving? A new home and a different environment can open up many exciting possibilities and opportunities. It's all about location and what moves you. Having a chance to start fresh may be exactly what you need to feel better about yourself. Do you enjoy challenges and achievements that put you to the test and make you feel stronger physically and mentally?

Who Else is Involved with Your Decision?

Is there a significant other? Children? Parents? Seniors? Pets? An "X" or an Employer? If the decision is yours, and yours alone, when destiny is calling you'll need to look at all your pros and cons.

Once the Decision is Made, What's Next?

Purging begins with organizing your thoughts and things. Assess your needs. Divide and conquer exactly what you need. If it's just stuff that will be stored is it really necessary? Stuff is stuff that no longer serves your purpose. Decide what you need to discard, donate, or recycle. Charity begins at home. Are there organizations and centers where you live that would be a welcome gift to others in need?

What are Some Disadvantages?

If you really can't decide and think it's better to pack up everything you own and take it with you, will the price you pay for moving with or without a moving company be worth it? Budgets do matter. Stuff. Use it or lose it. If you don't use it, you're losing valuable storage space and you gain less clean air to breathe. Home really IS where your heart is. A healthy heart for life is quite an accomplishment! Too much stuff causes stuffy noses and allergies. Live securely light weight with essentials that are necessary.

Where do You Begin?

Start cleaning. Saving stuff forever doesn't necessarily mean you'll be happier, healthier, or that you'll be living in harmony and in balance with nature. Box and label exactly what you need, room by room. Playing music keeps the rhythm of your heart moving in the right direction. Maintain a positive attitude. A professional cleaner and a professional moving company can help guide you in the process.

What's your Destiny?

The answer is very simple. The choice is yours ---Patricia Feager

Sonja Adams - I'm sorry for the passing of your mom. Grief changes us and the way we think about things too. You have to be motivated and have a good reason to move if nobody is forcing you to move. Think carefully and you'll know what you need to do.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - Personally, Jack Welch's quote is a wake-up call! Simple, easy to remember, and so true! I'm working on moving out too. It takes time and without additional manpower to help me with the heavy items and boxes, it's kind of drag. Consignment shops are closed here too. Luckily, I get info once a month from Make-A-Wish and it makes me happy knowing it's for a good cause and they pick up as scheduled without hassle.

All the best to you for your next move.

Patricia, A good post with guidance for potential Sellers to ponder.  Not something that should be rushed, best when there is time and all areas affected by a move are addressed.  With you as a guide, potential Sellers in your area will be in good hands.

Well done, Patricia. Making a move, whether by choice or not, is a complex matter from start to finish, and it's different for each personal situation. I doubt anyone would ever say a move is easy, but you've given everyone some important issues to ponder if a move is planned, or being considered, whether a short distance or not.

Congrats on your feature - it's well deserved.

Jeff

The issue for the clients I know that want to move is this:  they know their house will sell quickly, but then also know they will have trouble finding what they want and making all the timelines work without moving twice.  Moving twice is a hassle, yes--I've done it!--but in the end, worth it to get the house you really want

Gloria Todor - Cleansing is a daily habit and that should include everything: Body, Mind, Soul, and all that we possess. Washing hands in the morning is just the first step of continuous cleaning.

May your day give you reasons to smile beyond measure!

George Souto - When I think of the word move, I think about all the parts that had to be in place with old watches and clocks. If one piece wasn't function, time would stop. Everything has to be in sync.

Mary Hutchison, SRES, ABR - I have had clients experience the same thing. After consultation, they fully understood their options before agreeing to their Offer. Did they need interim lodging beforehand? They thought about it good and hard, signed a lease, and sold their property without regrets. It all worked out in the end and they were happy because it really was their decision and they fully accepted their responsibility.

Good afternoon Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP ,

Love the quote from Jack Welch. My dad worked for GE for 38 years. Excellent job in presenting all that goes into making a move. Congratulations on the featured post.

Great post, many people just can't make up their minds when it comes to moving. And I agree that no time will be the right perfect time.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - I knew one Director (Sigma Six) who worked for GE. She was revered by the company she kept. Dorie, you must be very proud that your father worked for such a reputable company!

Thank you, so much for for that wonderful compliment. Dorie, you'll never know how much I appreciate it.

Lyn Sims - There are many people who like the idea of moving but, but, but... there's always a but and some never move. The only time it's the right and/or perfect time is when it's over.

I hope you're having a wonderful day!
