"I'm not sure that any of us are ever ready for anything. We can
be ripe, or over-ready, but what is that moment when we're actually ready?"
---Andrea Riseborough
Between 1981 and 2001, Jack Welch, Chairman and CEO of General Electric inspired and motivated many people throughout the world. As Jack would say, "Control your destiny or someone else will."
Ready or not, moving can be just as exciting as it is stressful. For nearly a year lives have been upside down due to the pandemic. Leaving the past behind may be exactly what you need at this time in your life or not. It all depends.
Things to Think About
Are there more advantages or disadvantages to moving? A new home and a different environment can open up many exciting possibilities and opportunities. It's all about location and what moves you. Having a chance to start fresh may be exactly what you need to feel better about yourself. Do you enjoy challenges and achievements that put you to the test and make you feel stronger physically and mentally?
Who Else is Involved with Your Decision?
Is there a significant other? Children? Parents? Seniors? Pets? An "X" or an Employer? If the decision is yours, and yours alone, when destiny is calling you'll need to look at all your pros and cons.
Once the Decision is Made, What's Next?
Purging begins with organizing your thoughts and things. Assess your needs. Divide and conquer exactly what you need. If it's just stuff that will be stored is it really necessary? Stuff is stuff that no longer serves your purpose. Decide what you need to discard, donate, or recycle. Charity begins at home. Are there organizations and centers where you live that would be a welcome gift to others in need?
What are Some Disadvantages?
If you really can't decide and think it's better to pack up everything you own and take it with you, will the price you pay for moving with or without a moving company be worth it? Budgets do matter. Stuff. Use it or lose it. If you don't use it, you're losing valuable storage space and you gain less clean air to breathe. Home really IS where your heart is. A healthy heart for life is quite an accomplishment! Too much stuff causes stuffy noses and allergies. Live securely light weight with essentials that are necessary.
Where do You Begin?
Start cleaning. Saving stuff forever doesn't necessarily mean you'll be happier, healthier, or that you'll be living in harmony and in balance with nature. Box and label exactly what you need, room by room. Playing music keeps the rhythm of your heart moving in the right direction. Maintain a positive attitude. A professional cleaner and a professional moving company can help guide you in the process.
