IRS Updated Procedure for Penalties

It's too bad the IRS is not properly trained/staffed to answer even the most basic of questions, ie.......what did you do with my tax payment which was delivered by our USPS to your Ogden, UT. facility? Why haven't you cashed my payment check which was delivered on December 17, 2020?

Update:  On January 26, 2021 I was able to speak with an intelligent, helpful, articulate employee of the Internal Revenue Service....after being "on hold" for ninety minutes. She proceeded to search the records relating to my situation. She put me on a brief hold (5 minutes) to investigate the disposition of the payment I had mailed the U.S. Treasury back in early December. Upon her return, she noted that my check had been received and was scheduled for processing within the next few days. Furthermore, she indicated I would not receive any additional notices regarding the payment issue in question. May faith has been somewhat restored with government agencies and their ability to get something accomplished.
