Hi Kathy Streib - I am ready to see that list for this year disappear. Those have been overworked!

Good morning Kathy. Well I would like to see "Come on, man" banished but then Joey would not have an answer to questions. Enjoy your day.

Hello Kathy - I wonder how Lake Superior State University will be doing in the finals this year? I digress. That is prior to pondering.

Thanks for the list! I didn't know these lists existed. I looked back a few years and I like some of those suggested let's-get-rid-of-them words!

Good morning, Kathy... I did not know a list like this even existed. It pretty much covered everything I'd have suggested, especially the words and terms relating to the pandemic.

Hi Kathy,
My problem is that my wife's name is on that list and everybody ribs her about it all of the time!

The one I cringe at every time is when millenials say "you know", it is the modern um. Unprecendented is a good one for the past year.

Kathy,
What a list, I had no idea it existed. I like the English/American language, there are so many beautiful words that go unused. A

OK...I just need to say the one that is killing me. I take folks out to see a house, and they love it...the first word....WHAT (in a loud and annoying way).

Hi Kathy Streib, I didn't know this list existed. I don't like "my bad" and "fixing to" and never...ever...ever use them.

Kathy tell me it isn't so. You want to get rid of the phrase "Let's Rap"???
That is as unspeakable as getting rid of boom boxes. 😜🤪

Barbara Todaro I hear that word a lot!
Cindy Edwards I actually had to look up "Karen" to see what it meant.
Grant Schneider same here. I am still waiting for "actionable" to leave.

Wayne Martin which is why he uses it so much.
Michael Jacobs do they even have a basketball team?
Sharon Lee I cringe when I hear "my bad."

Kat Palmiotti it's fun going back to some of the years and seeing what words made the list.
Lottie Kendall I'll bet we can add quite a few names to that list. You can make suggestions for 2022.

Nina Hollander it drives me crazy when people latch onto words and use them without even considering other possibilities.
wow Rocky Dickerson you covered them all!!!!!
Jeffrey Richman honestly, I had no clue what it meant until I saw it on the list.

Hi Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 "you know" reminds me of when "like" is interjected in every sentence.
Roy Kelley another one to add to the list.
Ron and Alexandra Seigel I agree. One of my favorite characters -Agent Pendergast- in the books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child- uses words that seldom used by anyone else. I have to look up many!!! I love it!
Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty oh yes, I can hear it now.
Sharon Tara oh yes...that would be nice and then we can suggest words for 2022.
Hi Beth Atalay thank you for the feature in my fave group. I cringe at "my bad."

Chris Ann Cleland oh yes...let's hope it leaves and never returns.
George Souto we were at a family reunion many years ago...I'd guess we were all in our 40 or so. One family member said "let's rap" and shame on me...I opened my big mouth and said "Are you kidding me???"
Will Hamm hope it's stopped snowing there!!!
Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS words become trite when overused, don't they?!
CANDACE (Candy) STEVENS same here...I had to look it up.
Chuckling at this and the comments. I too greatly appreciate the English language and love it when I stumble upon a beautiful and new word. Psithurism ( sound of wind in leaves) is my favorite find of 2020. As for overused words and phrases, begone!

It is true, that words have a shelf life to many of them. Overuse is often a good cause to banish. A couple of days ago, I was going to create a meme with the recently released Bernie with the mittens app. However, once I created it with my googled house in the background, I realized folks were already beginning to get tired of seeing Bernie memes, so trashed it.
This list is news to me, Kathy. I can't say I have heard anyone say "Sus."
Let's ban "asking for a friend." And how about "great blog" - here on AR at least.

Oh my gosh - "Having said that..." as Paula McDonald, Ph.D. said and Wayne Martin's "C'mon Man" makes me cringe...as do all of the words/phrases for this year you which listed, Kathy! I never knew such a list existed but, agree, we DO need one!
I would like to add 'gob-smacked' - sounds like something a kindergartner says - used when an adult can't think of anything intelligent to say!!
