Good morning, Kathy... I did not know a list like this even existed. It pretty much covered everything I'd have suggested, especially  the words and terms relating to the pandemic.

My problem is that my wife's name is on that list and everybody ribs her about it all of the time!

The one I cringe at every time is when millenials say "you know", it is the modern um. Unprecendented is a good one for the past year.

I have seen much over use of the word 'look'.

What a list, I had no idea it existed.  I like the English/American language, there are so many beautiful words that go unused.  A

OK...I just need to say the one that is killing me. I take folks out to see a house, and they love it...the first word....WHAT (in a loud and annoying way).

If only the banishing of those words would bring life as we used to know it back to us. 

Hi Kathy Streib, I didn't know this list existed. I don't like "my bad" and "fixing to" and never...ever...ever use them.

Kathy tell me it isn't so.  You want to get rid of the phrase "Let's Rap"???

I don't understand the Karen issue.  I have not heard that or seen it anywhere on my social media.

You are right, however if I write out those words, I would be banned from AR, FB and other sites.

Chuckling at this and the comments. I too greatly appreciate the English language and love it when I stumble upon a beautiful and new word. Psithurism ( sound of wind in leaves) is my favorite find of 2020.  As for overused words and phrases, begone!

It is true, that words have a shelf life to many of them.  Overuse is often a good cause to banish.  A couple of days ago, I was going to create a meme with the recently released Bernie with the mittens app.  However, once I created it with my googled house in the background, I realized folks were already beginning to get tired of seeing Bernie memes, so trashed it.

I do become weary of tired, worn-out words and phrases. One phrase that is so overused, "Having said that...." is one I would like to see put to bed.

This list is news to me, Kathy. I can't say I have heard anyone say "Sus."

Let's ban "asking for a friend." And how about "great blog" - here on AR at least.

Oh my gosh - "Having said that..." as Paula McDonald, Ph.D. said and Wayne Martin's "C'mon Man" makes me cringe...as do all of the words/phrases for this year you which listed, Kathy! I never knew such a list existed but, agree, we DO need one!

I would like to add 'gob-smacked' - sounds like something a kindergartner says - used when an adult can't think of anything intelligent to say!!
