DC has lots of new construction condo buildings to choose from! There are new buildings in every section and neighborhood in the city or so it seems! There are shiny new condos in old buildings on Capitol Hill and Shaw or in a historic hotel on Connecticut Avenue. There are sleek new condos in Georgetown and the SE waterfront. The only difficulty may be deciding which ones to look at first!
One of my favorites is the two unit Downing House on Capitol Hill at 216 8th St NE. Downing House is a stunning stone and red brick building, dating back to the late nineteenth century, when it was the church rectory for the St. Monica and St. James Episcopal Church. Now the old church rectory is home to two large condos with every modern luxury. Unit 2 has 4100 square feet, 4 floor and 4 bedroom suites plus 4 and a half bathrooms. Coffered ceilings, hand-milled cabinetry, Wolf and Bosch appliances, and lots of marble are just a few of the details in this stunning home.
Another interesting small building on Capitol Hill is the New Union Garage at 625 Maryland Avenue, with only three condos, one on each floor. This building is close to Stanton Park ad a short walk to the Capitol, Union Station and the Metro. Listed for $1,695,000 this three bedroom, two bath is accessed by a direct access elevator. Don't miss the 12 x 32 foot urban sky garden!
If you would rather be in a repurposed building in Shaw at 1827 Wiltberger St NW, then you might consider the Adora, new consturction in an old DC bakery. This is close to the Howard Theater, lots of restaurants and cafes and all the best of DC! The Adora is just 9 new units - all waiting for you!
If you want the classic amenities of a high rise condo like a roof deck and concierge, then you should consider a building like the Perla, a new pet friendly building in Shaw with a full time concierge, rooftop lounge and terrace.
If you want a full service building with lots of amenities, you should check out the new construction at 1625 Eckington Place NE. This 12 story building offers 179 choices from studios to two bedrooms and penthouse condos. The building, which is pet friendly, has a daily concierge and onsite building manager, a penthouse lounge with kitchen and fireplace, grilling station with bar and pre area, lounge and seating areas overlooking the city with monument views, a roof top pool and fitness center, and a lobby level conference room with fireplace. This building is a short walk to the NoMa Metro.
As you can tell - there are lots of condos to choose from in DC that have just been built. There are big buildings with lots of amenities and small buildings with only two or three units and no elevators.
