Savvy Marketing: What Makes A Blog A Media?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

You have to be passionate about what you choose to blog about, (like the passion flower pictured above). Building an audience is what makes your blog a media.

There is fierce competition for attention out there. Your audience expects a certain brand, your brand of content, each and every time you publish a post.

It is your passion about your subject that engages and uplifts your audience.   When you are truly passionate about your subject, YOU are an original because no one else possesses your particular viewpoint on your subject.

That is why finding your own “voice” is the first step in becoming a blogger. You must first identify what you are most passionate about and eager to write about.

Do not blog until you discover your passion!  Otherwise, you are just adding to the white noise that is comprised of boring blogs. And, you are repeating the same passionless market reports and self promoting posts.

It takes passion to consistently tap your resources for new material.  It takes passion to be persistent in producing posts on a regular basis.

It is the “subscribe” button and the “share” button on blogs that makes the blog such an amazing marketing tool. These features make it easy for your audience to follow you, to participate in your journalistic journey and also tell their friends about you, which can lead to increased business.

Subscriptions build your audience. Think of subscribing to a magazine. Would you subscribe to your blog?

And last but not least, write in English as opposed to Googlish.  English is a beautiful language full of synonyms, antonyms, and precision words...Googlish is repetitive boring, oh so boring, it puts everyone to sleep.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel , I love the words that you have coined, and the concepts to think about, the passion flower invitation to look in the heart of the matter. The message I got is not to forget that humans shouldn't learn techno talk and try to be like robots; robots are now learning human expressions.

That Passion Flower reminds me that I once had one growing in my yard.  However, I've been missing it lately.  I think I'll plant another come spring.

Hi Alexandra,
I agree about the passion aspect. I think I only write well about the things I am passionate about.  I write in Carolish, not Googlish or whatever other ish-es are out there.

oooo, that is a tough one. Would I subscribe to my blog? I try to be local vs. national. Most people take that leap to be national but I don't think that we belong there. We sell in 'x' space, we should stick to that space or become a national nobody that proclaims a bunch of stuff that is irrelevant.

Think of Barbara Corcoran. She hasn't sold a house in 20 years. Is she relavant?

Lyn Sims I think that Barbara Corcoran is relevant in the investment world and her role in Shark Tank.  I don't know if she has a blog, and I am not all that fond of her personality.  However, she has helped many entrepreneur, and I admire her for that.

We sell our services internationally, and we stick to that.  My view is that all real estate is a luxury to its owner and it should be marketed accordingly.  Fiat has a $19,000 car and did a splendid job of marketing it...no chintzy paperwork or crappy photos.

We have always said , you should be the Google of your marketplace, not of any other marketplace.  I have always debunked marketing internationally,  and all over the nation, just be the google of  Schaumberg, Illinois.  There is no need to spend $$$ anywhere else, unless you have a strong feeder market.

Here in Santa Barbara, we have a feeder market in Houston (we have oil pumped off shore) Chicago, and most of the market is from Los Angeles and environs.  We advise our clients to focus $$$ in ads there...  I hope that answers your comment.  I think we are on the same wave length.  A

Real estate 5-3-1 room count and same old tired descriptions is all you do. If  packaging them up to roll down the MLS conveyor belt of current listings without passion. If that's all you blog about, the why do you live where you do and who are you, what are you enthused about is missing. Write about what you know. Share the images and video from the community around the real estate listings makes it well rounded and personal in your blogging Ron and Alexandra Seigel !

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel

The 'building an audience' still is the end game of blogging for many.

It was certainly the goal of blogging many years ago when blogging platforms became more widely available to the masses.

The printed newspaper still has subscribers, but people consume media differently now.

Blogging has evolved.

And the reasons for it have too.

Enjoyed your post.

Happy Blogging and Building Your Audience!

Brad
