1700 W PleasureAntique brickOversized garagekoi pond

 wood floors

You should see the wood in this house.  It was built in 1960 by a wealthy family in Searcy AR who owned and operated a flooring or lumber mill.  They made oak flooring that was about 3/4 inch thick.  Architect Norris Sparks designed their house and we still have the blueprints.  It is placed on 5 city lots which stretch from one street to the next.  When built it was on the edge of town.

Now, of course, the town has come out to meet it.  The property, however, is zoned R3 so it can not be used for commercial purposes even though there is an acre of land!  The present owner has added a sprinkling system for the yard and he put a 1500 gallon Koi Pond with waterfall in the back yard.  Trees are huge. Squirrels are prevalent and ready to eat out of your hand.

The walls are wood;  the floors are wood;  the ceilings are wood;  even the garage walls and ceiling and door are wood.  Inside the closets you'll find wood and I trust that if I climbed into the attic there would be solid oak wood there too.  Windows are wood with individual panes of glass.  Everything in the house is the best that could be obtained in 1960.

The price is a very reasonable $190,000 so if any of you want a private showing. let me know!! BUT BE WARNED THAT IF YOU INTEND TO PAINT ALL THIS WOOD, I'D CONSIDER IT SINNING!  For more pictures you can go to my website or to realtor.com.

Looks like a great price! You know that I very often get people that are looking for a ranch style.

They are more expensive to build these days!

Good looking listing. Older homes if they were built right will be around for years to come.  Solid wood, no OSB board, copper plumbing, stick built, plumb...and solid!

Charles, I should have expressed that this is the ULTIMATE ranch.  It's so long I couldn't get a decent picture of the whole thing.

Katie, I do believe the price is not bad.  He does want to sell it because he's tired of paying for lawn care.

Kenneth, I love that comment!!  Clever!  I'll bet you'll be around a lot longer than that!

Jim, this one is truly built well.  I hope someone will buy and appreciate.

Charlie,  my daughter just bought a house in GA, an old house, and she loves it.  It dates to the 30's I think. Course someone has updated with new kitchen and other pretty things.

Barbara,

That is truly beautiful wood flooring, I love that house.  Older homes, if well maintained, have alot of character.

Barbara - The wood floors look stunning and your description of the property is amazing.  I'm an owner of a house built in that time period that also has had all that wood and as beautiful as the previous owners thought it was, most that come into my home now think it is gorgeous and upscale...painted :)

There is no mistaking the craftsmanship of this type when it's found and there surely are buyers out there looking for them.  Good luck on the sale of this beauty!

Gary, you can use my fish picture for one of your fantastic blogs!  It does appear peaceful but the expressway if just a block away.

Jackie, you sinned!  But I forgive you.  I love the look of wood and sorta hate to see it covered. But I also love color so we're perhaps even!  Thanks for commenting.
