Face Everything And Rise.

I did not land in AZ initially when we came from LA, CA in 1993.

We first landed in Laughlin, NV, an awesome little casino town that is still just a stone's throw away.

THERE WAS A LADY we marvelled at.

We used to see her walking up and down Needles Highway between the stores.

This lady clearly has osteoporosis and is bent over at a 90 degree angle. She shops, feeds pigeons, walks and walks and walks.

She lives in a condo near the post office, but she was walking a good half mile or more west to where WE lived, and then back up to the stores and such.

For many years, since my husband worked at the Laughlin MPO where I have my box, he would simply bring home the mail.

Since he passed 5 years ago, I've made many trips to pick up the mail and go to Mountain View Park to walk. Great trail. Not always daily, as I tend to get stuck here, but certainly several times weekly.

I ALWAYS see this same lady walking! Still. Even now. She may be over 100 years old!

What's my point?

Whenever I feel like I can't do any more, nothing is working, things are just FUBAR . . . I realize that a lady almost twice my age who hasn't been able to stand up straight for almost 30 years THAT I KNOW OF is still going!

And that humbles the living daylights out of me.

So stand up straight, be blessed that you can - and keep going.

Hi Candice A. Donofrio

Enjoyed the post.

The girl in the fishnet stockings slapping the guy in the gas mask who is restrained to the chair though,...

(I'm not a Papa Roach fan but since you posted the video I had to watch it...)

Not saying there's anything wrong with being restrained to a chair wearing a gas mask being slapped by a lady wearing fishnet stocking... everyone to their own thing...

Happy Selling!

Brad

What a beautiful post. I give people who have to soldier through such physical challenges and do it with grace and good humor a LOT of credit. When we are experiencing good health, we really should be grateful....

Have a great day!

Good morning Candice A. Donofrio - that old lady is an inspiration.  We we think we can't do something then we see someone with great obstactles doing it.  We have to ask ourselves, what is my problem?

Hi Candice,
I think God places at least one inspiring person like that in every town. We've had a few over the years here.  It helps us keep perspective, doesn't it?  And, proves to keep on going you need to keep on going.

Fantastic message.  We always have a choice.  The difference between your little old lady and those that give up is that she made the choice to get up and go for it again instead of indulging in forces that could bring her down.

Good evening Candice A. Donofrio ,

I'm so glad that Kathy Streib included your post in her "Ah-Ha" moments for the week as I missed it. I love the story..it humbles one..we do have choices..this little old lady is not letting life get her down..what an inspiration! It's amazing to me your husband passed 5 years ago but then I think about my Geno who as been gone 16 months and its hard to believe. I feel when we lose someone so dear to us we are more observant, have a greater understanding, compassion and keep our eyes open for something amazing and recognize it!

Hi Candice A. Donofrio, I really, truly love this post, this sweet lady is an inspiration to me. My dad who will be 85 in just a few days walks every day, does yoga and his secret for his good health is not consuming red meat. Sometimes, we worry about things that are not important at all. Thank you for sharing.

Candice,

I bet she has NO IDEA that she is an inspiration.  You should stop and visit with her and share your blog with her.  You never know - you might be the brightest spot in her week by sharing that bit of info!

Good for her, Candice. Real Estate is not a business for quitters and whiners, and that elderly lady would be an inspiration for me, too!

This story reminds me of Sir Tom--the 100 year old UK gent who walked around his house to raise money for the pandemic workers.  It's my goal to stay active and useful until the very last day if possible!

Great story about perserverance, the benefits of walking, and keeping ourselves motivated.    We're celebrating with my Dad today on his 90th birthday - he's using a walker now, but keeps on keeping on.

Candice A. Donofrio - This is a great Chicken Soup for the Soul type of story. First, I want to say, five years is not a long time and I know your beloved man is never completely out of mind. I'm sorry for your loss.

The old woman pushing 100 or more, who still shops, and feeds the pigeons, bent over is, no doubt in pain but she keeps walking, walking, walking. What an inspirational story for hope and gratitude.

Candice, you really told a beautiful story, exactly the kind of stories I appreciate.
