Hi Candace very true. Just look at little further out and you will feel blessed beyond measure.  I have felt that way since I'm unable to hike up the hill.  All I do is see someone in a wheelchair and think.......thank God I can walk and hopefully back to hiking one day.  Just like that fabulous older lady....keep on going.

There was a lady in one subdivision that I lived in she was 85 10 years ago. She would smoke a cig like we were in Germany sort of with her palm up. She walked miles everyday & the other day, she was still out there. I want to be her when I grow up.

I love your post, Candice. When we walked at a nature center in Delray Beach, there was an older gentleman we would see every morning. I was told that he'd retired years before from the NYPD's bomb squad. He'd suffered a stroke and walked with great difficulty and yet, there he was every morning...walking at his own pace. I remember thinking that if he could do it, I certainly couldn't complain about it. 

I think that next time we are hanging out at Cocktails, we should invite that woman to join us for a drink! 🧠😁🧠

She is definitely an unsung hero.  It is remarkable how many people that inspire us and we don't even know them.  Thank you for sharing such an inspirational story.

I think God places at least one inspiring person like that in every town. We've had a few over the years here.  It helps us keep perspective, doesn't it?  And, proves to keep on going you need to keep on going.

Fantastic message.  We always have a choice.  The difference between your little old lady and those that give up is that she made the choice to get up and go for it again instead of indulging in forces that could bring her down.

What a wonderful lesson for us all, to keep things in perspective, Candice. And very humbling!

I'm so glad that Kathy Streib included your post in her "Ah-Ha" moments for the week as I missed it. I love the story..it humbles one..we do have choices..this little old lady is not letting life get her down..what an inspiration! It's amazing to me your husband passed 5 years ago but then I think about my Geno who as been gone 16 months and its hard to believe. I feel when we lose someone so dear to us we are more observant, have a greater understanding, compassion and keep our eyes open for something amazing and recognize it!

My dad who will be 85 in just a few days walks every day, does yoga and his secret for his good health is not consuming red meat. Sometimes, we worry about things that are not important at all. This story reminds me of Sir Tom--the 100 year old UK gent who walked around his house to raise money for the pandemic workers.  It's my goal to stay active and useful until the very last day if possible!

Great story about perserverance, the benefits of walking, and keeping ourselves motivated.    We're celebrating with my Dad today on his 90th birthday - he's using a walker now, but keeps on keeping on.

Candice A. Donofrio - This is a great Chicken Soup for the Soul type of story. First, I want to say, five years is not a long time and I know your beloved man is never completely out of mind. I'm sorry for your loss. 

The old woman pushing 100 or more, who still shops, and feeds the pigeons, bent over is, no doubt in pain but she keeps walking, walking, walking. What an inspirational story for hope and gratitude.
