Not A Roads Scholar. . .
The other day, I had a memory from last year that made me smile. That’s saying a lot for some since 2020 might not immediately come to mind when
thinking of happy moments. I understand but also disagree. Please follow along. . .
In my opinion, there’s something to be said for finding positivity(no 2020 jokes) at every opportunity. Here’s proof, at least in my world and thought process, that there are moments that can shine through even the gloomiest of times. This is especially true today as the rain continues to make its appearance known in thirsty Southern California.
Do you remember the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett as a Supreme Court Justice? I realize many of you do not keep up with the daily news but her name was “out there” in a big way and she remains an important part of history. She was a part of the controversy du jour in some segments of the population way back in the Fall of last year. Tossing that aside, I did some quick research to acquaint myself with her in an online search.
A part of her biography included an undergraduate education at Rhodes College in Memphis.
A bit later in her confirmation process, there were reports that students/graduates were being misidentified as Rhodes Scholars. You know those from the University of Oxford. In England. On the other side of the pond.
I am sure Rhodes College offers students a fine education but… I remembering smiling to myself and proceeding forward. Anyway for the record I am not a Rhodes College graduate nor a Rhodes Scholar despite any rumors to the contrary.
In fact, while I have navigated quite well in my own neighborhood and elsewhere(often without a GPS enabled device) I am not a Roads Scholar either. I offer this as disclosure should you need mechanical assistance or driving destination directions.
Just thinking about that memory still cracks me up a bit - and isn’t that kinda related to roads too? It’s a circular conversation it seems. A pondering roundabout. I digress. . .
