Inexpensive Colorado Summer
Vacation
I was out talking to my neighbor today, and he mentioned how this year's vacation is likely going to be a quick camping trip to the mountains (yes, we're only 45 min from Estes Park, spoiled brats). Last week at the office this topic came up several times, and it appears to be a common thread among a lot of folks this year. Yes, the price of gas just has everyone rethinking their normal summer activities. So, I thought I'd start up a blog asking for ideas on fun, inexpensive summer trips to take from the Colorado front range area. My, oh, my, so many ideas pop into my mind!
One of my personal all-time favorite places to visit is Steamboat Springs. If you like the outdoors, beautiful mountain scenery, laid-back weekends, great restaurants, fun shopping, you may want to consider Steamboat! Most people relate Steamboat to an awesome ski town, which it most definitely is also my favorite ski town, but summer in Steamboat has its own beauty and attraction as well. Strawberry Park is a super fun place to visit in the daytime with family (or after dark for the adult crowd), with the natural hot springs and mountain surroundings, and there is an abundance of hiking and walking tours, camping; or, you even can catch a bull riding rodeo throughout the summer months. In July, the hot air balloon festival is a must see. But whether there is something going on or not, Steamboat always promises to be a relaxing, fun-filled, refreshing mountain town for spending a few days. Whether in a cabin or a condo, there is always plenty of ways to stay entertained, or not, in the Steamboat area! For more details, check out www.Steamboat-Chamber.com.
Lets share some good ideas! Colorado has so much to offer, from Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, Cheyenne Mountain, Garden of the Gods, to Grand Junction and the National Monument, Grand Mesa, to Durango and Mesa Verde, eastward to the Pawnee Grasslands. What vacation ideas do you have, that will be worth the trip but a great savings for this year's vacation?
