Apple Studios has reportedly bought the worldwide rights to a critically acclaimed film about a hearing teenager in a deaf family for $25 million — breaking the Sundance Film Festival acquisition record.

The acquisition of “CODA,” which stands for “Child of Deaf Adults” was more than the $22 million Hulu/Neon paid for “Palm Springs,” starring Andy Samberg at Sundance last year, Variety reported Saturday.
