The global pandemic affected millions of lives. Some businesses closed for good. Some people found themselves furloughed with nowhere to go. Even non-profit organizations scrambled to find donors because so many people (and businesses) struggled to get by. Many non-profits found themselves getting creative to find new, fun ways to raise money. For instance, the Ventura CAN Tree Food Drive provided an option that allowed people to build their own "can trees" to participate safely. Netfin Westlake Mazda wanted to raise money for Meals on Wheels with a fun run. But how do you do that during a pandemic? They came up with the Ventura County Virtual Love Run 2021.
What: Ventura County Virtual Love Run 2021
Where: Anywhere you choose
When: Until February 28th, 2021
Admission: $45
Ventura County Virtual Love Run 2021
How it Works
First, sign up for a race. They offer five different ones to choose from. Then, choose when and where you want to complete your race. Take photos to track your progress and upload them to all of your social media platforms using #LoveRun2021. After that, head back to the virtual run's website to log in your time.
When you sign up for the Ventura County Virtual Love Race, you receive free access to the RunJoy app. This helps keep track of your race progress. It also allows you to invite all of your loved ones to cheer you on virtually while you run/walk your race. Yes, we said "run/walk". Whether you run, walk or do a combination of both does not matter. Finishing your race is all that matters. Put whatever personal spin on it that you want to make it fun. Remember, all proceeds help Senior Concerns' Meals on Wheels.
Types of Races Available
The five races include a California Water one mile, the Tuesday Tribe 5K (3.1 miles), Home Helpers 10K (6.2 miles), a 13.1-mile half-marathon, and the Doggy Dash. No matter which one of the races you choose, it costs $45 per person. However, your pooch pal only costs $15 for the Doggy Dash. With their entry fee, they receive a cute bandana for their efforts. Registration fees include a running shirt, reusable goody bag, RaceJoy app, and a medal for completing the run. Go to RunSignUp.com to choose your race and register today.
