Electricians are considered the most well-paid among all the skill traders. Electricians are highly-respected because they put both heart and soul (physical and mental labor) into their work to earn an honest living.

Becoming an electrician is a little harder than choosing any other career path, is it worth the effort? Yes, absolutely it's all worth it once you start being recognized as a professional electrician.

Remember! It's not an easy road as it requires both mental and physical labor so if you are okay to invest all your energies into this profession let's find out what you need to do to become an electrician.

Enroll to Get a High School Diploma

You might not know that electricians need to apply various academic concepts in their routine professional life. For being able to understand the basics of Algebra, trigonometry, and physics, enroll to get a high school diploma as a first step towards the journey.

Attend a Vocational-Technical School

A high school diploma is not enough to get you going. You will still be required to attend a vocational-technical school to use the concepts you have learned practically. If you want to skip this step you will not be questioned about it but vocational-technical schools polish the individual into a fine electrician.

Apply for Apprenticeship

None of the above-mentioned efforts are helpful if you don't get yourself motivated to apply for the apprenticeship. Apprenticeship helps aspiring electricians to earn the electrician license. You can apply for the apprenticeship through a trade school or a union.

Complete Your Apprenticeship Program

An apprenticeship program trains the individuals to master the skill. The apprenticeship program requires you to dedicate more or less 4 years but if becoming an electrician is your passion 4 years is not a problem. Part p course and part p electric course can also be attended to gain better skills.

Get Yourself Registered

You're almost there, some states require aspiring electricians to get themselves registered to start functioning as an electrician. If your state does not have any such rules, you're lucky as you are one step closer to the dream.

Get Certified

The next step is to become a certified electrician. Apply for the certificate or license by following all the rules and regulations of your state. You will be made to pass through a test to examine your basic electric concepts and skills i.e. safety protocols and building codes, etc. The certificate or license will be rewarded within days of passing the test.

Get Your First Order And Start Rolling!

Congratulations! You have now turned into a complete fully functional electrician. Get yourself familiar as an electrician, build contacts with contractors, offer your services at cheaper rates to get orders, fulfill your orders professionally and start rolling as an electrician.

In brief, to become a certified electrician, get the basic high school qualifications, attend a vocational-technical school, apply for the apprenticeship program, get yourself registered, obtain certification, and start functioning! It's a tough road but once you are successful in recognizing yourself as an electrician, it all worth it.

It's just a general guide if you want to get more specific information visit the vocational-technical school for guidance.

Good morning Joe Jackson great choice for a repost. I know a few guys that have skipped 3 or 4 of those steps and I would never hire them.
