🙋♂️Why Does the Media Sensationalize Everything?
The media sensationalize everything because people are gullible. They believe everything what the media air.

This post is in response to the clickbait article that Rocky found dismay in and which lead to a wonderful AR challenge this month. I read the article and while I am offended by it, I am not offended that someone wrote this stuff since I have seen agents that unfortunately do these things. I am greatly offended by the agents that do these things and give the industry such a bad name. It is my belief that any agent that is found to be doing any of these things should be at a minimum reprimanded, perhaps even fined and if they continue to do them, they should have their license revoked. There should be a standard that is upheld and our associations, including NAR, should be doing that instead of participating in their own agendas, political or otherwise.
Now, to the positive stuff!!! Most agents will NEVER do anything that is discussed in the article, so consumers should be working with those agents and not the few bad seeds that are spoken about in the article. Consumers should demand representation from an agent that will not participate in any of those acts and there are plenty of great agents out there to work with.
I learned long ago that the media feels the need to sensationalize everything and that often leads to promoting things that are not true or at a minimum insinuating that they are without any facts to back it up. They do this because it gets people to pay attention and they get the clicks or views that drive their revenue. Long ago, I stopped watching the news, reading the news, or listening to the news because I knew that it was not just the facts. I hated all of the bad that was being spread by the news and the fact that people were being made out to be guilty without any hard facts or proof. The news would insinuate things and publicly convict the actions of likely innocent people and that did not sit well with me since I saw it ruined the lives of some people even though they were later proven to be innocent. As you can tell, I am not a fan of the news, haha. I don't know why we can't just have the facts and be able to come to our own conclusions. Oh, wait, I do know why, it is money, the facts don't pay as well as sensationalized drama does...
I hate that this has turned into a negative post but I believe it still adheres to the guidelines of the challenge since one of the choices is to write about the media and respond to the article, which I have.
To end on a positive note though, I know there are so many great agents that I interact with daily in the Rain that would never do any of the things mentioned in the article and always treat their client's transactions as if it were their own. Kudos to all of the great agents out there!!!
