Formidable Google Tower in Austin Takes Shape

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Realty ~ 512.750.6899

Two years ago Google announced they were constructing a tower on the entire block of 185 in Downtown Austin. They have made significant headway on this 589 foot, sail shaped structure as seen by this drone video taken by the Austonia, a free "get connected to your city" news source. It appears to be on track for completion in 2023.

This 35 story tower across Shoal Creek is slated to be completed by 2023. Approximately 5,000 people can occupy the 793,000 square feet of office space. It’s stated there will be 1,327 parking spaces on the lower floors with some underground.

Of course there will be a fitness center, lounges, recreation area, kitchen and dining area, conference centers and a bar; all the perks expected by the high tech company. The building will house retail businesses on the ground floor with lobby access to the 2nd Street retail and entertainment district.

You can also expect, Austin style, to find outside the building a plaza along Shoal Creek featuring bicycle and pedestrian access connecting to West Cesar Chavez and West 2nd Street.

I've been in Austin since 1981 so the landscape of downtown Austin has been forever changing. Watching the evolution of Austin still takes my breath away.

If you are considering a move to Austin..DM for information on relocating.

A friend of mine was talking to me about this sort of thing the other day and it had never crossed my mind before.  He was talking about all of the big cities have some sort of outstanding building in the downtown area, but Phoenix doesn't really have it.
