The Historic Steam Boat  African Queen

The restored African Queen, made famous in the movie of the same name by Charlie (Humphrey Bogart)and Rose (Katherine Hepburn) now sits at harbor for short excursions in Key Largo Fl.

Not at all like the adventures of Charlie and Rose as they escape the Germans at the onset of World War I to make their way to Lake Victoria in Central Africa in search of the Louisa - a German gunship that patrols the Tanganyika shore.

They are worlds apart in personalities and if you haven't seen the movie it is well worth the time.  After all what else can you do during a pandemic.

We did not make the time to take a ride, but the sight of the 30 ft craft was still exciting to see.

If you're curious for the full details of the ship and the movie, follow the link African Queen.

Hello Ed - I remember seeing the movie The African Queen as a child when it was television and I recall the two stars playing in it.     Beyond that, not much else.

Nina Hollander   When I saw it on things to do I knew I was going there  Most impressive as is the history.

Michael Jacobs   It is quite the movie and Bogart got his only Oscar for it.

Brian England   It is worth it, a great ending  as well.

One of our dear friends was thinking of buying the African Queen, but passed when the price was too high.  We enjoyed the movie!  A

Kat Palmiotti    We spent the day trying to recall moments from the movie but the ending is hard to forget.

Grant Schneider   It obviously doesn't have all the modern affects, but it is well worth the time.

Ed I remember the movie.

I know you said the boat was restored, but it looks like it needs a coat of paint.☺️
