Is it one or the other?

By
Real Estate Agent with Atlanta Communities 303302

I friend and fellow Realtor has started teaching other agents the fine art of calling expired listings. He has been very successful with this over the years and felt like he would like to give back. Surprisingly, he has found a passion, teaching. He told me the other day he enjoys teaching even more that the actual practice of real estate.

Conversely, I started taking a class on higher level finance that I am enjoying immensely. I find that for me, I enjoy very much learning new things. I guess that would be a passion of mine. It will not, at least in the foreseeable future, replace the practice of real estate for me.

So two people, one loves teaching and the other loves learning. Which is better? Well, I don't think you can have one without the other.

Thanks to all those who love to impart knowledge. And thanks to all who love to receive it.

So remember, there is much to learn about buying and selling real estate, pick a good teacher to help you.

I have always liked learning new things and will take extra CE classes just for the education. I know I do not have the patience to be a teacher, however

Hello Peter - life's journeys takes us in many directions.  Sometimes, there are detours that appear quite natural while others seem a bit unusual.  I think it's a part of life.  Not good nor bad.  Not left nor right.  Not black nor white --- not even grey(or is it gray?).

Hi Peter- very interesting. Maybe the person who is a better teacher is one who also loves what he or she learns from teaching.

Good morning Peter. I strive to be an island of excellence in a sea of mediocrity. But the bigger my island gets the more I need to know. And a big part of learning is teaching. Enjoy your day!

Even if you don't go in for having a formal teacher, I find that every real estate transaction has twists and turns and are their own "teaching moment".

Thank goodness there are so many, here on AR and elsewhere, who are willing to share what they know so we all can learn. I suspect there is a little of both in all of us!
