What is a Coach Home anyway?
And while I'm asking what the heck is a Manor Home too?
I have many buyers ask me 'What is a coach home or a manor home anyway?' It all started with Lexington Builders on the eastern edge of Schaumburg around 40+ years ago. It was a new design concept for condos that were normally high rise's in our area.
A 'coach home' is simply a different name for a 'quad' or group of 4 condos put together. In the coach home layout there are 2 condos on the 1st floor and 2 condos on the 2nd floor. Then 2 of these groups of 4 are put together side by side for a total of 8 and 'voila' the coach home! Some other builders in the area also spun the name 'Manor Home' but it is the same concept. (Building plan attached below).
There are 4 to 8 models in each building and the home could be located either on the 1st (patios) or 2nd floors (balconies). Each model has something unique to offer having closet pantries, open wall Kitchens, formal Dining Rooms, vaulted ceilings, 9 foot ceilings, whirlpools in luxury baths, walk-in closets, window seats. A private one car garage is always included with each home.
Just want to be clear that this is not a trailer park or any type of manufactured units all bunched together in an odd pattern.
Schaumburg has the most coach home communities to choose from and there are even some built in Palatine, Roselle, Bartlett, Elk Grove and Arlington Heights too.
Some Schaumburg communities that I have written about:
