Doesn't anybody stay in one place, anymore?

For those, of a certain age, Carole King is an icon.  And her best-selling album Tapestry is a landmark of our memory.  Believe it or not, Tapestry celebrated it's 50th birthday yesterday (February 10th).  If you didn't feel old before you read that, I'll bet you do now.

It was groundbreaking at the time, and includes backup singers James Taylor and Joni Mitchell (who was recording her, also groundbreaking, album Blue, just down the hall in the same recording studio).

For your listening pleasure, on the 50th anniversary, here is a wonderful video recording of a song from the album by the group "Lake Street Dive" (with singer Rachael Price, bassist Bridget Kearney and keyboardist Akie Bermiss) of "You're so far away".  Enjoy!  I know I did.

It is really a great song and she created so much beautiful music.  Yes, I do feel old.  😉

She wrote more songs than most people know.  Did you know that she wrote the "locomotion", sung by Little Eva?   Or that she wrote "Go away little girl" made popular by a young Donny Osmond?  And of course she co-wrote "Up on the Roof" with Gerry Goffin, and Herman Hermit's hit "I'm into something good."

Alan- when I met Larry, I remember that we both had the album Tapestry. Over the years when we switched to CD's we sold all of our albums. And then in 2004 Larry got interested in albums again. He bought a very nice turntable and one of the albums we searched for and found was Tapestry.

I never sold off the vinyl.  When I got married, we had a handful of duplicates, too.  When I divorced I got custody of the albums, and she got custody of the friends

Wow, now THAT is a step or two back in time. That was, or is, a great album (we still have a copy although no way to play it). And thanks for sharing the video - terrific!
