Wintry weather in Dallas and the surrounding area started on Tuesday and will continue until next week.
If you are a homeowner, one of the biggest concerns during freezing temperatures is protecting your pipes. When water freezes it expands and that can put pressure on the pipes.
Pipes that are exposed to the extreme cold, such as pipes in a non-heated area in your home and pipes that align an outside wall with little or no insulation are likely to freeze and burst.
To prevent your pipes from freezing and bursting, allow your faucet(s) to drip cold water to relieve some of the pressure.
You may have to figure out which faucet(s) you need to drip but the time spend locating the appropriate pipes is well worth it compared to the cost of repairing a bursting pipe and cleaning up after a water damage.
