Austin is bracing for even more extreme weather remaining below freezing with additional icy precipitation expected today and tomorrow! We always say “wait 10 minutes” in Texas and the weather will change but this is a Valentine’s Day we all will remember. Freezing rain, sleet and snow is on the agenda!
Residents are urged to stay home due to hazardous road conditions, especially on our elevated roadways and bridges. We don’t experience weather like this, therefore no trucks are out dispensing sand or salt. The last time we had a storm approaching this magnitude was 20 years ago!
Many are without power and some are experiencing lengthy power outages. I’ve been lucky so far…..just power flickering off and on. I am keeping my phone charged and glad I made a trip to the store on Friday.
I was to have gone to my son’s for dinner but am going to stay put…my pool is still running and so far no large branches snapped from the weight of the ice but I’m keeping a close eye on things.
I opened my front door late yesterday afternoon to find son John Dunham with a bouquet of beautiful white roses (my favorite) from him and my daughter, Melissa. What a lovely surprise!! I'm so grateful to have such loving and caring children who always think of me. I am blessed. ♥
A glass of wine, roaring fire, a movie and the fragrance from my roses...a nice evening! Looks like I’ll be doing the same thing tonight!
