I Lost Another Client
I received an email last night that I lost a client.
It’s not what you may be thinking…that a buyer or seller I was working with made another decision and moved on to a different agent. That happens to us all occasionally.
This was about death!
We become close to many of our buyers and sellers…some more than others. And death is inevitable for us all.
Sometimes it’s expected due to a serious illness, but at other times it’s a complete shock, as it is to the person who suddenly loses their spouse, a partner, a child, a close friend, a dear pet..
I’m very saddened by the news, but so moved that I was informed.
These clients were so wonderful to work with, and we became friends. I helped them buy a home a few years ago, and then to sell it in order to relocate across the country to be near family 2 years ago.
I just sent a Valentine’s email on Saturday, and got a wonderful note back from them.
I responded to the email right away, and will reach out in person in a day or two. Life goes on, but it doesn’t always deliver good news does it?!
There have been others, of course, over the years, as we no doubt all have experienced, and each one is sorrowful. It never gets easy, does it?
It's part of what makes our role in this business so special...getting involved in people's lives, often deeply, and in ways we might not anticipate.
Most of the time it's joyful, but not always...that's the human part of the real estate business, isn't it?
