With the July 1, 2008 date that marks significant changes to the Shoreline Protection Act just 2 weeks away, Site Engineers, and Wetlands Scientist in New Hampshire's Lakes Region are very busy with NH waterfront property owners trying to accomplish permitting prior to the July 1, 2008 deadline.
Significant changes will include the implementation of a grid system and the disappearance of a building envelope in which trees surrounding new construction were allowed to be removed. The purpose of many of the changes are to prevent the lakes, ponds, rivers and streams of New Hampshire from aging and dying due to pollution during the development of New Hampshire waterfront properties.
One of the companys that has recently worked with my office, CENTURY 21 Lakes Region Real Estate to help with wetlands delineation and assessment is New England Environmental, Inc. A wetlands scientist, Randy Shuey, CSS, CWS, came up with a plan to build a deck over a man made ditch located on one of our NH waterfront property listings. This proposed deck over the man-made ditch would likely permit a better and more usable yard for this NH waterfront property. Located right off "the broads" this Lake Winnipesaukee waterfront property on Pot O' Beans Road has 147 ft of Lake Winnipesaukee waterfront with fabulous long lake views and .55 acres of land. With a little ingenuity and determination, and the help of wetlands such as NEE, NH waterfront property owners will still be able to attain some of their goals in developing their NH waterfront properties and our NH lakes, ponds and streams will be safe and healthy for many future generations.
