The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center has been a staple of the community for over 27 years. During this time, they’ve hosted hundreds of plays, they’ve had thousands of patrons come to attend shows, and they’ve provided the city with some of the highest forms of art and entertainment in this part of Ventura County.

With that said, what is the history of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center?

According to Today Tix:

“Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, a Ventura County Historical Landmark, was originally established as the Simi Community Methodist Episcopal Church in 1924. With a long history involving several earthquakes and various building owners, the building was acquired by the City in 1994 and re-opened as Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center in 1995. Since then, the now-refurbished Cultural Arts Center has been host to hundreds of performances - plays, musicals, concerts, art shows, films, weddings, receptions, business meetings, youth festivals, and much more.”

And the Simi Valley city website states:

“The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center first opened its doors in 1995. Located in a historical building on the corner of Los Angeles Avenue and Church Street, the Center serves as a regional hub for the arts and is home to theater, dance, music, and the visual arts. It also serves as a community facility and is available for meetings, conferences, and special events. The facility is owned and operated by the City of Simi Valley, under the Department of Community Services.”

The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center is a testament to the things that a community can achieve if they put their minds to it. Throw in a pinch of creativity and the end result is a bastion of high art.
