Maintaining a good mindset is probably the most important thing we can do for ourselves at the moment. But it's not always easy. Many of us are concerned about our health, our loved ones, and our finances too. Then, for some, there is the boredom of isolation to cope with – there is only so much TV we can all stand to watch. On top of this is the added frustration and loneliness that comes with this particularly difficult time. And if you're not bored, you're probably overwrought with trying to juggle work and home life.
But just because we're feeling down it doesn't mean we can't adjust and adapt how we feel – we just need to be conscious of it. Many of us have a lot to be thankful for and it's important to count our blessings. This can completely change our perspective and help us to realize that life is worth appreciating.
Navigating Life's Challenges
Developing healthy strategies can be key to getting through hard times and can be an effective way to manage future obstacles. Staying connected with others either face to face, over the phone, or even via your on-line gaming is vital for good mental health. Allowing ourselves to experience and share humor even in the darkest or most trying situations will improve the positivity of others as well as ourselves.
Having a good attitude and choosing to be positive will determine a lot about our life. If we set our mind to positivity it can take us a long way. Being purposeful means taking responsibility for our life and actions rather than just watching how things happen. Getting our life together means taking ownership of where we want to go. Taking charge comes through positive action.
We aren't perfect and we're going to make mistakes. But if we change our focus from how we failed and try to think about what lessons we've learned, we begin to transform any negative self-talk into positive inner dialogue. Most sources of negativity stem from a memory of a recent event or the imagination of a potential future experience, so it's important to try and stay in the present moment.
Adopting a healthy lifestyle can have a big impact on how we feel. It's not just our mental health that's important, it's our physical health too. By being active we boost our mood and help ourselves to manage our anxieties.
Bouncing Back
Trying to find time for what we love, prioritizing good quality sleep, and enjoying some relaxation, are important activities for our overall perspective on life and our tendency to focus on all that is good. We need to make positive thinking a habit, then it will start to guide everything we do. Building positive qualities will help us to increase our level of life satisfaction and learn to develop resilience.
Defined as the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, resilience is what empowers us to accept and adapt to situations. It isn't something that is just demonstrated by mental toughness, it involves the ability to work through and cope with arduous human experiences. It is the process of adapting well in the face of challenging experiences.
People who are resilient tend to harness their inner strengths and resources, to rebound quickly and more fully from setbacks. Having a positive attitude and the ability to see failure as a form of helpful feedback, are part of what helps to make us stronger – by re-framing our situation we can make a real difference leading us to gratitude and growth.
