You can keep your home in top shape with simple tasks throughout the year. This month, be sure to:
1. Clean the vent duct for your clothes dryer. Fires are created by clogged clothes dryer vents and are one of the most common house hold causes of fires.
2. Test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms.
3. Make sure you and your family members know the location of all the gas and water shut off values in your home.
4. Examine your thermostate. Dust off the heat sensors, the contact points and contacts. Check your thermostat accuracy and replace if needed.
5. Pull out your refrigerator and clean behind the unit. Be sure to clean off the coils.
6. Replace or clean off furnace filters.
7. Check your fire extinguishers. . . replace or refill
8. Get rid of Clutter. The more stuff you have lying around, the more dust will collect.
9. Steam clean carpets and couches after being closed up all winter.
10. Flush out Sinks and Drains.Clogged pipes can become a problem during winter months. Improperly draining pipes can freeze and burst, leading to costly water damage and repairs. White vinegar or baking soda is a good solution with hot water.
- As always, I appreciate referrals from my friends and past clients. If you know of anyone who is looking to buy or sell real estate, please send them my way!
Have a safe month. . . ..
