Pet Adoptions Rose Significantly In 2020
Nationwide, animal organizations found homes for almost 892,000 pets in 2020. With more people working from home, pet adoptions remain on the rise. According to a study by Porch.com, 83% of pet owners said their pet(s) improved their quality of life and reduced their stress during lockdown.
Wondering if more more dogs or cats were adopted? Cats beat out dogs by a very small percentage: 55% versus 54%. Wondering which states favored cats versus dogs? It seems to be an East versus West "thing." Dogs were favored on the East Coast, while cats were favored on the West Coast (except in Oregon). For more data on pet adoptions by state, click here.
