Mismatched Shoes

I admit it’s not an issue for me on most occasions.  Thankfully.

But let’s look at situations where a mismatch might be more common.  It definitely happens in real estate and in real life.  A connection that might be “just fine” under different circumstances  results in a mix up of sorts.  For all sorts of reasons.  We’re not on the same page.

We may try hard to make things work. But hard as we may try, it won’t fit.  Or maybe the two styles don't work together. Back to our shoe example, there's nothing wrong with wingtips but let’s be honest, you’re bound to get some odd looks if you wear one on the left foot with a high heel on the right.  And the difference need not be that noticeable.  Back to the shoe department(so to speak) and it's Penny Loafers versus one with a Tassel.   A bit more subtle but definitely not the right match.

It’s time to take a pause and feel what you know is the right fit for you and trust that feeling.

Hello Michael, I know one time at a party, everyone had to take there shoes off, lots of little kids there and they more the shoes.  I ended up with the same style shoes but one bigger then the other and did not see it till I got home.

I did accidentally wear two different shoes one day and was almost through the day when someone finally noticed and told me.  All I could do was shrug as I went the day not looking at my feet.  Obviously my focus was elsewhere.

I seem to remember for a short time wearing shoes and socks that did not match was IN...crazy fashion statement.

well Michael- I actually did that once...I had the same shoe but in different colors- black and dark blue. I was rushing to the mall and put on my shoes that were in the closet (no light on) When I got to the mall and was walking up to the store I noticed the different shoes.

Will Hamm - two differerent sizes - wow.

Ed Silva - sometimes, a shrug is the best solution.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - fashion, like humor, has a sense of timing.

Kathy Streib - it is becoming apparent to me, that this is NOT such an unusual or unique occurrence.

I'm far too sensitive to be wearing two different shoes...unless it were the same exact shoe in different colors. My feet would never stand for being in different situations at once. LOL

This post immediately made me think of Punky Brewster. LOL

Sharon Tara - wow - Punky Brewster - there's a blast-from-the-past.  The character and the actress who played the part are not a part of regular conversation.  At least for me.

According to my daughter....the show has made a recent come back. Punky is an adult now. I have no interest. LOL

Michael Jacobs - Very interesting! I wonder what gets more attention and shocking?  Mismatched shoes or 50 pairs of shoes all the same size and color. I once listed a bachelor's house for sale. When I opened up the closet there were 50 identical shoes on the selves. All the same style, color, and they were all polished ready to go. I never did sell that house. Even more interesting was the comments. The unanimous comments were about the shoes in the closet and they wanted to know why there were two or more recliners in the living room, 4 bedrooms, dining room, and game room.  Hmmm... I had no words. And never did get positive comments about the house.

It's very easy these days to not be on the same page with a lot of people. Our society has been chopped into groups, then sub-groups and more sub-groups until we are left feeling we have nothing in common.

But if you are just talking about shoes, I ordered two pair online.  I like them both, but don't need two pair of black shoes.  I should keep one each and enjoy them both.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - that's an interesting recollection of the listing which prompted all sorts of responses.

Chris Ann Cleland - possibilities create ponder opportunities or as Carol Williams has coined the practice: pondertunities.

Hi Michael,

Good post, seems there seems to be a lot of mismatches being far more common now these days and no one bats an eye anymore.

Morning Michael.

You could say my wife and I are a mismatch.  I like to keep going every day, while she likes to stay home.  I crave adventure, while she doesn't among other things.

Michael, have never had the same style shoe in different colors, so have not had that issue, but can see where it could happen.

Endre Barath, Jr. - I appreciate that.

James Dray - when opposites attract, there are things that can be found in common.

Joan Cox - you're quite organized.  In your thinking, your approach to business/life and obviously with your choice in footwear.

Hi Michael Jacobs - My shoes are different styles and I notice it right away if I put on the wrong shoe.  As for business, I focus on similarities with clients.  My job is to find a client real estate and in doing that I pick up on similarities we might have whether it is real estate or something similar in our personal lives.
