Signs Of Spring In North Dakota

When it comes to signs of Spring on the North Coast you take what you can get. Here are three signs I saw this week.

bulb2bloom

Carol received this buld for Christmas. We followed directions and nothing appeared to be happening for about 6 weeks. Then BOOM! It grow at a rate of about 2 inches a day until it reached 24". This week it fully bloomed.

Cattle on the road means that they are not cooped up in the barn or in a feed area. It also means they are going to find a path to the "greener grass" on the other side of the fence. I encountered this bag of beef on my way home from an assignment yesterday.

Last of all the Boys of Summer made their first appearance across the street from my home at historic Corbett Field. It was just a practice but it was great to see them. Before the artificial turf was installed in 2012 we would not see the BOS until late April but with the artificial turf they can shovel the snow off of it if neccessary (this year they have not had to shovel).

I hope I don't jinx myself BUT it looks like we are going to have an early Spring in Minot North Dakota.

And, what a gorgeous bloom it is, Bob!  The daffodils began blooming in my yard several days ago.  I love seeing their happy little faces.

It was really fun watching that plant zoom towards the ceiling Myrl Jeffcoat . It seemed to take forever to get gowing but once it woke up it was in a hurry to bloom.

Thank you A. Each one was really a delight to see. I had not seen a bulb like that in years now cattle on the hiway either. Of course I see the Boys of Summer every year and look forward to their pressence and the sound of the crack of the bat as they practice Ron and Alexandra Seigel .

I'm thinking ONE more winter storm James Dray but it won't have the sub-zero temps and the snow won't sit there for several months either (I hope).

You've had a crazy winter, Bob, so you deserve an early spring. One sign of spring you won't see in my neck of the woods is any cattle wandering around! :)))

Hello Bob - despite the many differences between our two states, there are quite a few similarities that can be seen.  It's "out there" for those who see.

Cattle on the road is not something I see often either Nina Hollander and when you do it's often a scary thing but I was not in a hurry andit was easy to see this beast in the road.

Understood Michael Jacobs . Those differences are what makes life an experience none of us really want to miss out on.

Hello Bob,  and with that bull roaming the area meeting it is spring time.  I can remember, cows getting out and we would have to go miles to find then on my father in law ranch.

Our Spring weather is usually a mix of extremes Roy Kelley . We had 9 days of sub zero and now we have had a string of days in the 50's above right after it. Next... most likely a blizzard!

This one must have just gotten out Will Hamm as I stopped at the farm house a short distance away and yup, it was theirs.

Good morning Bob. Somehow timing is everything and I keep missing your posts. Spring is trying to spring here in Chicago and not making the best of progress. That said, it was 63 yesterday, should be upper 60's today, and lower 70's tomorrow. Soon I will be able to say "Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the flowers is". Enjoy your day.

We take what we can get Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS and one sign I forgot to mention is that for the past week the geese have been coming in in large numbers. It's great to see.

Wayne Martin we got our first taste of 60's yesterday as well but the forcast makes is not so kind. The average for this time of year is in the mid 30's so I know we really have a spell to wait for a string of 60's.
