No, this is not a post on Insurance...title insurance or otherwise...but it is concerned with our personal well being and what we ought to be doing to assure we are headed in the right direction!
Like most good signs, our job as humans is to point others in the right direction...personally, morally, legally, and ethically...
Cutting right to the chase, there are two issues that seriously divide our country...I used to think they were 'Abortion' and 'Religion'...but a thorough reading of the dilemma tells me the roots of those two maladies go much deeper...and in fact can be more simply explained...
I would submit these two new terms...'LIFE ISSUES'...and...'AUTHORITY'...
Under each of these two main issues can be found many elements of division...
I would like to offer my rather simplistic explanation for each term...not with the intention of changing opinions that differ with mine, but merely to provide a frame of reference for those who go further in reading or studying these areas...
Why do I propose such 'controversial' topics to write about...because I think many are 'skirting' the real issues under the guise of 'political correctness' or the false premise of not wanting to alienate anyone...
Now, let's backup a bit...look at the Preamble of our Constitution first...
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Now read over the Introduction and Preamble to our Declaration of Independence...
In CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
I'm not going to argue or rehash points which are evident by a careful and respectful reading of these documents...for the purpose of brevity, I merely wish to provide an overview of where I see the deficiencies lie!
1) There is no doubt that the Creator mentioned is the God of the Judeo-Christian faith!
2) The rights to 'life'...'liberty'...and 'the pursuit of happiness' clearly are attributed as coming from this God...and 'unalienable'...basically means they come from God, and no 'man' can take them away!
3) The basis for all the foundational documents was clearly the 'Natural Law'...which still remains in force!
4) Without the basic 'right to life'...none of the other rights (Freedoms) mean anything...
5) All 'Authority' comes from God...civil and religious...'License' is when we usurp that authority and ascribe it to ourselves...this is not 'freedom', but an attack upon 'freedom'...True 'Freedom' is doing what we 'ought', not what we 'want'...
These five points are provided to frame the issue for better clarity...feel free to examine and study the issues however you wish...but try to see my assertion that our present course that divides our nation stems from the abuses of 'The Natural Law' and 'Permissiveness' or 'License' which denies absolute truth...
We need to humble ourselves before God and repent...and respect the Authority that He provides for our welfare!!!
Our Insurance policy should cover us from 'Collision' damage (when we collide with natural law)...and afford us 'Liability' coverage (when we negligently reject proper authority)...
Simply put, if Jesus Himself is 'The Truth'...then one can only 'know' the truth by knowing Him...
Abortion, promiscuity, fornication, embryonic stem cell research, homosexual behavior, licentiousness, breakdown of family values are all 'SYMPTOMS'...of a much deeper illness! Neglect of the natural law and rejection of authority!!! Just like we need a 'Supreme Court' to interpret our laws, so too we need an 'Authority' to interpret our religious beliefs...and that's where the 'Church' comes in!!!
A family...Mother, father, and child(ren)...provide the basis of natural law...the family is 'a domestic church'...that is why, at all costs the integrity of the family must be maintained...without that foundation...society will continue to crumble!!! And this is what is ultimately being attacked...THE FAMILY...
I offer these reflections for your perusal, prayer, and personal consideration...and because I Love America!!!
