In the middle of the school year, I've found that it's hard for my kids to get motivated. It's warming up and they see summer on the horizon. Therefore, the urge to buckle down and study is no longer there.
Each day becomes an exercise in teeth pulling.
So, for us, and maybe for you too, we could use motivating quotes that push us forward. These work well with kids, but they're also wonderful for adults.
1. "When you know better, you do better." - Maya Angelou
2. "You become what you believe." - Oprah Winfrey (Check out this post for 105 kids affirmations that help with believing.)
3. “Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don't wish it were easier; wish you were better.” – Jim Rohn
4. "No one is perfect - that's why pencils have erasers." - Wolfgang Riebe
5.“If you want to achieve excellence, you can get there today. As of this second, quit doing less-than-excellent work.” – Thomas J. Watson
6. "What you do today can improve your tomorrows." - Ralph Marston
7. “Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.” – Dale Carnegie
8. “Keep on going, and the chances are that you will stumble on something, perhaps when you are least expecting it. I never heard of anyone ever stumbling on something sitting down.” – Charles F. Kettering
9. “Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It's quite simple, really: Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn't at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, so go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that's where you will find success.” – Thomas J. Watson
10. “Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential.” – John Maxwell
11. “The secret of your success is determined by your daily agenda.” – John C. Maxwell
I hope these inspired you too! Pick one and stick it where your kids can see! Write it on their bathroom mirror or stick a post-it where the whole family can see. Let it be a gentle reminder for everyone to keep trying their best.
