Points? What's the point?!

By
Real Estate Agent with United Realty Group SL0475285

I've been actively participating on this site for a few days.  I try to write intelligent, thought provoking material. I've also been sharing what has led me to the level of success that I've achieved.  Based on the replies, most readers welcome my postings and have replied favorably. What's unfortunate is that a great deal of what is posted is written to garner points, rather than put forward an intelligent thought.  The great thing about blogs and the internet (and the country we live in) is that one can share their thoughts with whomever chooses to read them. The rest can just choose to ignore it!

Last night I posted a subject that I had not seen discussed here. The purpose of the discussion was to provoke thought. It was also posted to share a part of my life that has provided me a level of success not directly related to my real estate success. (although indirectly related) An anonymous poster "Wong-fu" chose to criticize my posting by writing that I should stop wasting his/her/your time.  No offence Wong-fu, but I've read a lot worse material on this site and I just ignore it and move on. I'm sure it is important or interesting to someone.

David,

Don`t get upset. This person has no idea who you are! You didn`t even mention your achievements inside of  Re/Max International..

The fact that they had to think of a name like Wong Fu & go anonymous says a lot now doesn't it? Don't let the turkey get you down!  : )

Just ignore Mr. Wong Fu!  I think your blogs are well written and by the looking at the comments other 'rainers" think so as well (except Mr. Fu).  I guess there's gotta be one in every crowd.

As far as the points, blog for yourself and to help other people and you'll be fine.

Wow! I got passion for my word, I suppose it does fit the blog :)

Unfortunately people have different standpoints and it is a shame that we can't all be more tolerant of eachothers styles.  Mr. Wong Fu just needs a new set of reading glasses.

1. This goes with my theory that points are a by-product of creativity when it comes to "raining".

2. Interesting and thought provoking are subjective terms. What interests me may not always you or others. That should never stop you from doing things you enjoy doing, which in your case is sharing knowledge.

3. "The Lovely Ladies" R and M are correct, life could get boring it there was "not one in every crowd" :)

David, stick around and you will soon see that we are a very nice group.  Lots of support to be found here.

Wong fu isn't part of this network. Its best to ignore someone like that.  He will go away if he doesn't get any reaction.

David,

Keep up your blogging. I've enjoyed your posts. The one last night was a good reminder that I should get back to the gym. I use real estate as an excuse since I don't have a 9-5 job. I certainly have time to squeze in a work-out. I have noticed that alot of REALTORs have put on weight. Stress can make you fat.

David, ignore people like Wong Fu. I am here to network in an effort to learn and to build up my business. I expect to have a few rocks (Wong Fu) in the way. I just throw them to the side and keep trucking.

One of the Active Rain guidelines states clearly, "Do not personally attack another person".  Unfortunatley it seems that Wong-fu may have broken this rule.  I agree, if you don't like it you don't have to read it.  Simple as that.
