BUMMER!!!! Figured I could have it my way and ignore genetics...............well, my annual visit to the doctor's office proves that I can't. I only went in because it had been well over a year and I knew it was time (or as my daughter said to a friend 'She likes to have them draw her blood'.).
Actually, since BOTH of my parents had both had triple bypass surgery TWICE by the time they were my age, I thought it was prudent to have everything checked. I don't eat the way they did, but still wanted to see. They indulged in butter.....the shopping list included a pound of butter each and every week. They also fried food with Crisco!!!! I use olive oil for everything from a topping for my bread to what I sautee with. So I figured I would get yet another good report from the doc.................wrong!!!!!
Seems the cholestrol is through the roof! And it is that LDL, which REALLY irritates me, since I take 1200 mg of red yeast rice each and every day!!!!! As of right now, I am on 3600 mg of red yeast rice!!! AND the doc put me on zocor for 6 weeks, when they will do blood work again.
This is such a bummer!!!!! No more ice-cream!!! No more brownies!!!! (Broker Bryant, your post made me think of them) No more fries with my burgers!!! ( I eat a burger once or twice a month - well, that won't be happening anymore!!!)
AND I have to start going to the gym more than twice a week again!!!! Wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all back to my 2006 lab results!!!!!
On a brighter note, the LDL was the only thing that was out of wack!!!! Guess that is something to be happy about!!!!!
