I was reading a blog and it was talking about the pros and cons of promoting your listings on your blog and someone had suggested that you tell a story about the listing so it didn't just seem like you were promoting your listings on your blog. I don't see any problem with promoting listings on your blog since that is our business but it also got me thinking about our client's individual stories.
For me personally, working with a client is all about understanding their story. What has gotten them to this point that they need/want to buy or sell a home? How is this sale or purchase going to affect their future? As Tony Robbins says "Motive does Matter!." I don't think we can truly understand their motive if we don't listen to the story that goes with it.
In the intereview I heard with Tony Robbins, he was also talking about fulfillment in our work and how you must have that to be happy. I realized that one of the very best parts of my job is all the interesting people I get to meet and all of the interesting stories I get to hear. And to make it even better, I get to be a part of their story. Seeing a client move on to her own place after a difficult divorce or seeing a young family move into their first home with their new baby and knowing I helped make that happen is very fulfilling to me. I have met people from all over the world and heard details of their lives that I probably wouldn't have heard in many other jobs. It's not just another client, it is a new story and another chapter in my life as a Realtor. What a great job. I can't wait to see what other stories are out there waiting for me!
